Phoenix Real Estate Blogging Seminar - Why Blog in Real Estate?

Yesterday a dozen or so real estate professionals (investors and real estate sales agents) gathered in the Jobing.com University Room in Central Phoenix to hear about the why and how of blogging from yours truly and Dave Barnhart / BusinessBloggingPros

A tactic I like to employ to keep the conversation on track is to ask the attendees "what would you like to get out of the presentation today?".

At least one of the attendees said 'Cynic'; she indicated that she neither understood the benefits of blogging and that they were skeptical that the tactic could produce a result they considered acceptable.

Agent20_250wide I love presenting on this topic and having them in the audience was a treat - it was also a treat having Jay Thompson / PhoenixRealEstateGuy in the audience.  Jay is a local practitioner of the Agent2.0 model and I refer liberally to him and his work often.  His presence allowed him to state what he and his stats are directly - powerful commentary.

Jay Thompson live blogged the event hereShailesh Ghimire / ArizonaMortgageGuru also appeared and 082807seminarpic again, these two guys as proof points of the Agent2.0 and Lender2.0 concept were awesome - thank you both of you for coming.  I appreciate you both for your dedication to the effort to promote blogging in the real estate community.

Chris Butterworth also showed up; Chris is one of the few team leaders I've some across who is working on building a team based around blogging as a marketing strategy - he and have had a few discussions and I expect many more around the tactics and strategy of building a team based on social media practices.

Back to our cynic though - by the end of the event, I think they came around and saw the value of a social media strategy in real estate - I think the conversion rate at this event to real estate blogger's may approach 100%.

Dave took over (changed my name to Greg - LOL) and immediately held his drawing for one year TypePad basic subscription and Doug Ingersoll won; one of the things we wanted to show at these events is just how easy it is to start your own blog - Dave's talent and familiarity with the tools he promotes really came through as during his presentation, Doug's blog account was opened and he made his first post; cheers went up as he clicked the 'Save' button and was able to inspect his first posting.

We also held the drawing for a one-year Point2 Technology Professional upgrade and Donna Sitzes / Dan SeminaropeningslideSchwartz Realty won the drawing - congratulations you two!!  In my book, everyone that showed up was a winner and walked away with much more than they came with.

Here are the slides used for the presentation..

Hey Steven,

It was a great event. I got a few ideas and came back pretty excited.

Thanks for putting this together.
