PowerPoints, Videos and Social Media - oh my!
I promised Francine that the materials from the OTEF conference would be posted promptly - and here they are...
The first is the video we opened the conference with. It's a YouTube Video produced by Michael Wesch, Assistant Professor of Cultural AnthropologyKansas State University titled "Web 2.0 ... The Machine is Us/ing Us". I think it's a great piece on the power of the technology and a reasonable commentary on the impact the technology will have on us as a culture - it's gonna be a wild ride for sure...
Chris Heuer of the Social Media Club opened the 1/2 day conference and shared an audio clip of his interview of Ian Kennedy of Yahoo! (Download file0022output.wav) on "just what is Social Media" and a few screen shots (no Internet access in the venue) that demonstrated the immediacy and power of this environment. I enjoyed meeting with Chris and Robert the evening prior and over a great meal, I discovered more about the power of the blogosphere than I had in all the reading and listening the 10 years prior. I came to realized that the environment is immediate and powerful - and anyone can get involved - it's how I decided to join the ranks of bloggers.
There is no media connected to the next session, but I wanted to post what it was. Check with Sean Tierney after March 5th, 2007, when the podcast will be at Grid7.com. The session was titled 'Launching Social Media Campaigns' and it included Allan Sabo, Alti Success Strategies, Pamela Slim, Ganas Consulting / Escape From Cubicle Nation Blog, Amanda Vega, Amanda Vega PR on a panel Moderated By Ty Young, Phoenix Business Journal.
The next items come from the panel titled 'Case Studies in Social Media' which showcased some great examples of how social media can impact visibility and revenue of companies of all sizes. The panel consisted of Celia Blackwood / KXCI Radio Tucson, Kevin Donnellan / Cold Stone Creamery, Max Fose / IWS Now, Ben Gordon / R&R Partners and the panel was hosted / moderated by Allan Sabo, Alti Success Strategies.
I've converted the PPTs to short videos and the Cold Stone ads are also shown here... Enjoy!
